Mr. Umana, an alumnus of both Harvard and Columbia Universities, a Member, Nigerian Economic Society and a Fellow, Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria. Since his appointment in 2016 as the MD/CEO of OGFZA, he has led a visionary and transformational administration, leading the Agency to its current number one ranking in the Nigeria Ease of Doing Business Index (2018). Mr. Umana has a B.Sc. (Hons) Economics and an MBA in Finance. Mr. Umana served as the Akwa Ibom State Director of Budget. He was appointed Permanent Secretary of the State Budget Office until his voluntary retirement. Mr Umana was the Honourable Commissioner for Finance, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. Mr. Umana also served as the Secretary to the State Government. He was Chairman of the Steering Committee in Akwa Ibom State for the World Bank Community Based ‘Urban Development Project’ and Chairman of the ‘Akwa Ibom State Coordinating Committee’ for the United Nations Development Program.
Mr. Umana has attended various management courses, including: the Driving Government Performance Program at the Harvard Kennedy School, Harvard University; the Public Private Partnership and Project Finance Program at the International Law Institute (ILI), Washington DC.; the Senior Executive Program at London Business School, the Columbia Senior Executive Program at the Columbia Business School, New York; and the Modernising Government Program at RIPA International London.
